Knowing what to do in an emergency can make all the difference.
Texas City ISD uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to provide students, staff and first responders with clear, consistent actions during an emergency. The five SRP actions are:
Hold - In your room or area. Clear the halls. Normal activites inside classrooms.
Secure - Get inside. Lock outside doors. Normal activities inside the building. There is not a threat inside.
Lockdown - Locks, lights, out of sight. There is a threat inside the building.
Evacuate - Move to a designated location.
Shelter - Follow the appropriate safety strategy for the hazard.
These common terms help everyone understand what action to take and allow for a faster, more coordinated response when it matters most.
